Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The expansion protection list was announced yesterday, and there were really no surprises for Chicago Blackhawks fans.

The Chicago Blackhawks beat writers and bloggers have been basically telling us for a week now who was and wasn’t going to be on the protected list, and when it was finally announced at 10:30am (1/2 hour later than the announced time on Saturday) there were no surprises for Hawks fans.

Of course the one player everyone was questioning was Tomas Jurco being on the protected list.  I had a real love/hate relationship with Jurco during his short stay with the Hawks.  I felt like he was a poor mans Michael Frolik with him not getting a lot of minutes, so he makes some plays yet struggled to finish them in the back of the net.

Besides that I guess the only question was Dennis Rasmussen, but he hasn’t signed a contract so that’s why he’s not protected.  I have to be honest I didn’t realize that Jeff Glass would be available for the Vegas Golden Knights.

So now we are stuck waiting until the 21st until we find out if Marcus Kruger or Trevor van Riemsdyk are traded to Vegas.. Oh well, it makes the summer go by faster.
