Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The calendar has turned to July which means that the NHL free agency period begins today!

There always is a lot of chaos around the NHL on the first day of free agency, and even though there aren’t a lot of quality out there this year, there is quantity.

This is more of a TJ Maxx year of free agency looking for the steal on the bargain rack then just shopping at high dollar retail store.

We have looked at many of the bargains that have risk and rewards like Patrick Sharp who plenty of fans want to see return while some fans are ready for the retreads to stop.

The question is what Stan Bowman is doing with Marcus Kruger, and if he really is comfortable with what the Chicago Blackhawks have on the blue line right now.  The defense is kind of scary if you sit back and think about without Niklas Hjalmarsson back there anymore.

The goalie situation seems to be settled down with the Anton Forsberg  acquisition in the Brandon Saad deal so don’t look for anything but a AHL free agency signing for goalie depth.

Who knows what the Hawks will do, but it should be fun!
