The Chicago Blackhawks have had some great players lace them up, but very few were the kind of character that Andrew Shaw was while playing with the Hawks.
If you look at Andrew Shaw’s career stats they will never wow you or make you think that he should have been higher in this ranking, but the thing about Shaw was that he was one of those old school annoying gritty players that you liked having on your team.
I’m sure through the years there has been plenty of players like Andrew Shaw on the Chicago Blackhawks roster that may have had better career stats, but the thing that made me put Shaw on this list is that he hoisted the Stanley Cup twice! Oh, and he had some great plays that will stick with this era of Chicago Blackhawks fans forever.
Shaw is one of the all-time steals by the Chicago Blackhawks scouting staff having selected him in the 5th round 139th overall. Shaw made it to Chicago pretty quickly and made his mark by doing some dumb things with some gritty things with some great things which made him a fan favorite that’s for sure.
He got suspended for running over Mike Smith in the 2012 playoffs, but then he won Game #1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs with his infamous shinpads!
I think the thing that I liked most about Shaw was that he had no fear even though he was a little guy. He was on the Chicago Blackhawks powerplay even though he was small because he was one of the few guys that would get in front of the net and annoy goalies and defenseman.

Shaw did have one 20 goal scoring season, and he had 70 career goals with the Blackhawk in just over 320 career games.
Shaw’s biggest moments came in the playoffs like when he got hit in the face by a puck that cause him to be bloodied, and to be honest some pretty cool pics of him with the Cup in 2013!
Of course the plays that really made him a fan favorite were his crazy ones like the head butt goal that he really sold against the Anaheim Ducks in Game #2 of the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.
In the end the Chicago Blackhawks won 2 Stanley Cups with Shaw on the roster, and that is why he’s ranked 84th all-time in our list!
