Honorable mention

We needed a whole separate page for honorable mentions this time around. Some of these will be trades, or at least names, that you’re familiar with. Others will be career minor league guys who may not even be playing North American hockey anymore. Let’s take a look.

Best

— In 2016, Blackhawks traded Jeremy Morin to Toronto for Richard Panik.

— In 2015, Blackhawks traded Ben Smith and conditional 2017 seventh-round pick (Ivan Chekhovich) to San Jose for Andrew Desjardins (a win based entirely on the 2015 postseason).

— In 2014, Blackhawks traded 2014 fourth-round pick (traded to Rangers; Igor Shestyorkin) to New York Islanders for Peter Regin and Pierre-Marc Bouchard (I believe the Blackhawks brutally underutilized Regin).

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded Kyle Beach to New York Rangers for Brandon Mashinter (at least Mashinter saw NHL time).

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded 2013 fourth-round pick to San Jose for Michal Handzus (and they later got the pick back in another trade, used it on Robin Norell).

— In 2012, Blackhawks traded John Scott to New York Rangers for 2012 fifth-round pick (no idea who draftee Travis Brown is, but the fact they got anything for Scott is great).

— In 2011, Blackhawks traded Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan to Florida for Michael Frolik and Alexander Salak.

Worst

— In 2017, Blackhawks traded Mark McNeill and conditional 2017 fourth-round pick (condition not met) to Dallas for Johnny Oduya (even though McNeill may be a career AHL guy, the Blackhawks got nothing positive out of this deal).

— In 2016, Blackhawks traded Ryan Garbutt to Anaheim for Jiri Sekac (at least Garbutt is still in the U.S.).

— In 2015, Blackhawks traded Trevor Daley to Pittsburgh for Rob Scuderi.

— In 2014, Blackhawks traded 2014 second-round pick (Christian Dvorak) to Phoenix for David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois.

— In 2014, Blackhawks traded Brandon Pirri to Florida for 2014 third-round pick and 2016 fifth-round pick (the Blackhawks traded both of these picks, too).

— In 2011, Blackhawks traded Ryan Potulny and 2011 second-round pick (traded to Detroit; Xavier Ouellet) to Ottawa for Chris Campoli and conditional 2011 seventh-round pick (condition not met) (trading anything for Campoli is bad).

— In 2010, Blackhawks traded future considerations to Anaheim for Nick Boynton (trading anything for Boynton is bad).

No opinion/on the fence

— In 2017, Blackhawks traded Spencer Abbott and Sam Carrick to Anaheim for Kenton Helgeson and 2019 seventh-round pick.

— In 2017, Blackhawks traded 2017 third-round pick (Keith Petruzzelli) to Detroit for Tomas Jurco.

— In 2017, Blackhawks traded Cameron Schilling to Los Angeles for Michael Latta.

— In 2016, Blackhawks traded Dennis Robertson to Carolina for Drew MacIntyre.

— In 2016, Blackhawks traded Corey Tropp to Anaheim for Tim Jackman and 2017 seventh-round pick (Joshua Ess).

— In 2016, Blackhawks traded Rob Scuderi to Los Angeles for Christian Ehrhoff (if Q had actually used Ehrhoff, this could have been a slight win … or a slight loss).

— In 2015, Blackhawks traded T.J. Brennan to Toronto for Spencer Abbott.

— In 2015, Blackhawks traded Adam Clendening to Vancouver for Gustav Forsling (jury is still out on Forsling as a consistent NHL player).

— In 2014, Blackhawks traded Jeremy Morin to Columbus for Tim Erixon.

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen to Florida for Kris Versteeg and Phillippe Lefebrve (Versteeg had his moments in this tenure, but I’d rather have Hayes at this point).

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded Rob Flick to Boston for Maxime Sauve.

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded Philippe Paradis to Tampa Bay for rights to Kirill Gotovets.

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded Peter LeBlanc to Washington for future considerations.

— In 2013, Blackhawks traded 2013 seventh-round pick (John Gilmour) to Calgary for Henrik Karlsson.

— In 2012, Blackhawks traded Brandon Segal to Tampa Bay for future considerations.

— In 2012, Blackhawks traded Brain Connelly to Calgary for Brendan Morrison.

Next: 3 Blackhawks To Be Concerned About In 2017-18

— In 2011, Blackhawks traded Rob Klinkhammer to Ottawa for conditional 2013 seventh-round pick (condition not met).

— In 2009, Blackhawks traded Aaron Johnson to Calgary for Kyle Greentree.
