The Chicago Blackhawks will try to snap out of their scoring slump tonight as they travel to Carolina to faceoff against a bunch of former teammates that play for the Hurricanes.
The Carolina Hurricanes have a roster full of former Blackhawks, and the biggest one the Hawks will have to face is Lemont Native Scott Darling.
The Chicago Blackhawks sure do miss some of these players including Teuvo Teravainen and Trevor van Riemsdyk, but to be honest the player I miss the most is Marcus Kruger.
Kruger just did all of the little things that never showed up on a scoresheet including taking that huge check to make a play. The Hawks are missing offense which isn’t what the players in Carolina have, but they seem to be missing that do whatever it takes mentality that Kruger or Andrew Shaw had on a nightly basis.
The one thing that is certain is that the Blackhawks need to find scoring, and Joel Quenneville keeps shuffling the deck to come up with some combinations that work. The one thing that he hasn’t done yet and doesn’t look to be doing tonight is putting a line out there of Alex DeBrincat–Nick Schmaltz–Patrick Kane.

It is pretty fitting that the Hawks are playing Teuvo tonight, because Coach Q is treating DeBrincat just like he did Teuvo. He has a scorer but he’s playing him on the bottom line with Lance Bouma and Tanner Kero tonight. That is just a waste of his talent if you ask me. If you are going to do that with DeBrincat you might as well send him to Rockford!
The Hawks need a win, and I don’t know if they find it in Carolina tonight!
