The Chicago Blackhawks that we know and loved finally showed up in the third period last night to tie things up, and then Brandon Saad off a very nice set up from Alex DeBrincat finished off the Hurricanes for the Hawks 4-3 OT win.
After the Mom trip ended last night, the Chicago Blackhawks headed home to faceoff against the surprising New Jersey Devils who are 10-4-1 this season. Surprising because they were one of the worst teams in the NHL last season.
Hopefully Joel Quenneville saw what everyone has been screaming for the past couple weeks last night, and that’s that we all feel like DeBrincat should be with Patrick Kane to jump start the offense. DeBrincat had his first career 3 point game last night, and both times he scored he was where a scorer should be and both Kane and Jonathan Toews found him for goals.
The Hawks need to get on the board earlier than they have in the games they have played the past few weeks including last night’s victory. When the Hawks are rolling they score early and often and tell the other team how the game is going to be played. Lately, the Hawks are getting behind which means that Corey Crawford or Anton Forsberg will have to bring their A Game to the rink because the Hawks will be giving up multiple odd man breaks to force the action to get goals.

Speaking of Forsberg he picked up his first career victory last night as a Chicago Blackhawks goalie, and tonight will be going after career win #222. Crawford has a very pedestrian 7-6 record, but his stats are Vezina worthy with a .187 Goals against average and a .942 save percentage. This is always the time of year the Hawks need Crawford the most before the offense and Patrick Kane start heating up. Hopefully we see more offense tonight!
