Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! Christmas is less than a week away which is pretty amazing since it feels like I was just eating Thanksgiving turkey.  There are a lot of traditions people have, but one that seems to be going away is the Christmas Card.

Growing up back in the day, my mother and grandmother would get so excited to get Christmas cards from family members that lived out of town as well as friends that had moved away.

I mean there was always the saying, be nice or I will take you off my Christmas card list.  When I moved into my first house as an adult there were still tons of Christmas cards coming to the house, and it was the time when people started sending the family letter which was all about what great things their family had done in the past year.

Recently, cards turned more into pictures of the family and if you were like us it was more of the kids in the pictures.

As I opened my mailbox last night after work, I was a bit surprised that I had received just my fourth Christmas card of the season.  I guess with Facebook and Twitter and smartphones we don’t need the Christmas card to communicate like we used to, but again it’s another tradition that seems to be going by the wayside.

More from Blackhawks News

The Chicago Blackhawks a couple weeks ago had looked like a team that was losing it’s tradition of winning on a regular basis.

Luckily for Blackhawks fans, a 3 game homestand against 3 of the worst teams in the NHL gave them that winning feeling once again that they have carried over into games against Divisional foes.

The Christmas card still barely survives, but I hope the Blackhawks winning continues for much longer!
