The Chicago Blackhawks travel to Big D tonight to faceoff against the Dallas Stars in a Central Division showdown.

At the start of tonight’s games the Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild all have 39 points, so it’s safe to say that the Central Division is a tight race for 4th place at Christmas with the Jets, Predators and Blues 6/7 points ahead of the trailing pack.

With that being said, it’s easy to say that every game is going to be important the rest of the way in especially when the matchups are within the Division. It sure feels like four point swings are going to be huge this season.

If you haven’t been noticing, Corey Crawford is having a fantastic season so far even with him missing games with an injury.  He’s been superb night and night out, and when the Blackhawks have scored goals it looks like the team of old.  They have struggled for much of the season to score consistently which is why Crawford is been so important this season.

The guy who’s starting to get hot is Patrick Kane, and all he needs is one goal to hit the 300 goal plateau for his career which he would only become the 5th Chicago Blackhawks to ever achieve this milestone.  Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull, Steve Larmer, and Denis Savard are the only Hawks to score 300 wearing a Chicago Blackhawks sweater.

A fun fact is Patrick Sharp had assisted on Kane’s 1st, 100th, and 200th career goals, but it looks like Sharp will be in the pressbox tonight while Richard Panik draws back into the lineup. It’s a shame that he won’t be in the lineup for that chance tonight, but his play hasn’t warranted more playing time as of late.
