Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is on the verge of making history. Could it happen against the New York Islanders?

Currently, long-time Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane sits at 898 career points, just two shy of 900. Kane sits fifth all time on the Blackhawks points list, 25 behind Steve Larmer. Only Dennis Savard, Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita have more than them.

If Kane doesn’t hit 900 tonight, chances are he will over the next two games. Kane has put together an electric eight-game point streak in which six of those eight games have been multi-point performances.

If you think that’s a hot streak, Kane has a point in 18 of his last 20 games. Not only that, but in his twelfth season in the NHL he is on pace to set a career high in both points and goals. Only time will tell on that one, though.

At the end of the day, reaching 900 points will be easy for Kane.

Doing so against the New York Islanders might not be.

The Islanders currently sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division and second overall in the Eastern Conference. Largely due to their new coach Barry Trotz, the Islanders have taken a huge lead forward this year despite the departure of their former franchise face, John Tavares.

The Islanders have won 14 of their last 17 games. That’s an impressive run, but it looks almost god-like when comparing it to how the Blackhawks have fared this season.

In their last six games, the ‘Hawks have lost five of them.
