The Chicago Blackhawks came back down 2-0 against the Ottawa Senators. Not only does that win move the team up over .500, but they’re also now five points out of the playoffs.

The Chicago Blackhawks just showed why they can be a great team tonight. Down 2-0 in the second period, the team started to rally back. I have to give Jeremy Colliton credit. Colliton put a Kubalik-Toews-Kane line out on the ice that changed everything.

Jonathan Toews had a three-point night, which included the game-winning goal. Patrick Kane had two assists and got closer to 1,000 career points. Dominik Kubalik kept his scoring streak alive by scoring in his fifth straight game.

Toews was a monster in overtime. He wasn’t going to be denied. He took the puck into the zone, made a solid move, helped Marcus Högberg lose his stick, went around the net, and scored 32 seconds into overtime. This is Toews’ third game-winning goal of the season, 66th of his career.

Robin Lehner deserves a lot of credit, he ended up getting 20 saves after a rough start. A lot of goalies wouldn’t play as well as he did after giving up two goals early in the game. Instead of giving up a third, which likely could have ended his night, he started making key saves and gave the team momentum.

The team now is 13-1-2 in their last 16 games up north against eastern conference teams. It would be nice for Blackhawks to bring that back to the United States.

Going into tomorrow night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, the team can now ride this momentum. Corey Crawford will be playing. Crawford is from Montreal so, expect a big game for Crawford.

The things to look forward to tomorrow is Kane’s 1,00th career point. He is only three points away which means he can hit 1,000 points at any time. It would be really cool for Kane to hit it on home ice but it’s a great accomplishment, to begin with.

Hopefully, the team tomorrow Kane’s point streak can move to eight, Kubalik’s goal-streak can move to six, and the team gets another win.

Depending on the outcome of the Jets, and Predators/Oilers finish tonight, the Blackhawks are just out five points. The Oilers have 53 points, the Jets have 52 points, the Blackhawks have 48 points, and the Predators have 46 points. So once those games finish, we’ll have a better look at the standings.
