The Chicago Blackhawks ended the month of January just three points out of the final Wildcard spot. During the month, these three players made their mark.

(Third Star) Jonathan Toews

Jonathan Toews was voted the Blackhawks third star of the month by the Blackhawk Up fans on our Twitter poll.

During the month of January, Toews scored a point in eight of the 10 games played. The Blackhawks were 6-2-0 in games where Toews got a point. He also scored the overtime game-winning goal against the Senators on January 14th, 2020.

In January, Toews had 16 points. Those points consisted of five goals and 11 assists. He was a big key to the Blackhawks’ success in January. Toews won 77.2% of the faceoffs he took. That totaled to 114 wins to 88 losses.

Toews was voted the NHL’s third star of the week on January 20th.

He truly has had a great month for the team. It’s too bad they couldn’t have finished off the month with a win against the Panthers. That would have made the team just one point out of the playoffs. The fact is, they’ll need more consistent efforts from the team when the All-Star break is over.

12 of their next 14 games will be on the road. That isn’t a great recipe for success, but the Blackhawks are that team that can turn this into a positive. They’re in a fine spot right now. We’ll see what happens.
