The Chicago Blackhawks have been great for the last few weeks. Since January 1st not many teams have been better than the Blackhawks. Tonight against the Minnesota Wild they need to continue their success.
Getting a win against the Arizona Coyotes was great. That win put the Chicago Blackhawks another few points up in the Western Conference standings and got them closer to the wildcard spot. The wild card spot is only three points away, as it is currently held by the Coyotes. However, there is another spot not very far away.
The Minnesota Wild are currently at the bottom of the Central Division standings. They sit at the bottom with 52 points this season. Those 52 points are only four worse than the Blackhawks 56. Now throw in the fact that if the wild win tonight the Blackhawks are two points away from being the worst record in the division. Things can change quickly in the NHL.
So yeah, tonight’s game is a must-win for the Blackhawks. I would argue every game is a must-win from here on out. The Blackhawks are going into Minnesota tonight 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, while the Wild are 4-5-1 in their previous 10 outings.
The Blackhawks will also be with one of Minnesota’s hockey players tonight. Nick Seeler was picked up off of waivers yesterday in a move that has a lot of Blackhawks fans up in a storm. While Seeler might find the ice sometime in the future do not expect to see him tonight against his former team. Maybe he will find the ice in one of the next meetings between these two teams. The Blackhawks and Wild are scheduled to meet twice in March, on the 17th and 19th.
I hope the Blackhawks come out flying tonight against the Wild. Pay attention to Patrick Kane a little more tonight as Kane is currently on a 12 game point streak. He seems to go on a long point steak every year around now, making it even harder to rank Patrick Kane’s best seasons of all time. It’s always fun to watch until it ends. Kane has 18 points in his last 12 games, not bad.
Puck drop is at 7 between the Blackhawks and Wild! Getting a win tonight will get the Blackhawks that much closer to a wild card spot, while also keeping the Wild down in the division. Let’s go Blackhawks!
