Today, the Chicago Blackhawks’ captain Jonathan Toews joins former NHL goalie Kevin Weekes on Weekes’ Instagram to speak on racial inequality, leadership, unity, and the path forward.

For starters, I want to personally say how impressed I am with the city of Chicago and our captain, Jonathan Toews for his leadership and stepping up to the plate in times of need. The Chicago Blackhawks know this situation with racial tensions in our country is bigger than hockey.

Captain Jonathan Toews and star winger Patrick Kane are two of many players to speak out on the matter. With Toews speaking with Kevin Weekes on Weekes’ Instagram at 4 PM EDT, I’m assuming he will be one of many players to do the same.

I for one am very excited to see Toews take a leadership role in a time like this, where we are all on the same side.

This isn’t just on Toews though, again Kane has spoken out, along with other athletes from the city of Chicago, including Chicago Bears’ quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky has handled this situation with the city well, joining Toews and others to help out the youth in this rough time.

I am interested to see what Toews will say, it’ll be something covered on our Twitter page, here’s a link to that right here.

The most important thing we can all do at the moment is to help out each other and spread positivity. Please check out a video Kane posted on his Twitter, it’s something that we can all learn from.
