How much Stanley Cup experience do the Chicago Blackhawks still have?

The Chicago Blackhawks have made it all the way in the past, so they know what it takes. Making it far in the playoffs takes a lot of talent, but it takes so much more than talent, it takes experience.

When the Chicago Blackhawks won their Stanley Cup in 2015 they leaned on their experience during the tough times and the long series. If any team has the experience to win it all it would be the Blackhawks. Let’s look through some of the names in Chicago who have won a cup.

Obviously you know about all of the different Blackhawks, Brent Seabrook Duncan Keith Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have all won three Stanley Cups. Meanwhile, Andrew Shaw Corey Crawford, Brandon Saad, and Olli Maatta have all won two. Maatta is the only Blackhawk on this list who won a Cup with a different team, that should help us come playoff time when the team needs to lean on their past experiences if and when they are down in the series.

Outside of that, Zack Smith Calvin de Haan and Ryan Carpenter are the only players on this list with some real playoff experience. Calvin de Haan went on a run to the conference finals last season with the Carolina Hurricanes. he was vital to their defense. Zack Smith was apart of the Ottawa Senators when they went to the conference finals in 2017. Smith put up 6 points in 19 games with the Senators before losing in a game seven to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

That leaves Nicolas Beaudin, Adam Boqvist, Drake Caggiula, Lucas CarlssonKirby Dach, Alex DeBrincat, David Kampf, Slater Koekkoek, Connor Murphy, Alex Nylander, Dylan Strome, and Malcolm Subban with little playoffs experience to their names. Those younger guys are going to need to lean on the older players if they want to make a run this August.

If there ever was going to be a playoff run I want to see the Blackhawks succeed in, this would be it. We were the ones to win in 2013 following a lockout, and hopefully, we will be the ones to win again following a shortened year.

In total, there are 21 total Stanley Cup rings on this roster. While playoff experience might not be worth everything when it comes to winning a cup, that experience might just help push the Blackhawks above some opponent.
