The Chicago Blackhawks started their training camp with all but one player on the training camp roster participating in practice. That one player was goalie Corey Crawford.

Not to make a big deal out of something that could be so little, but the Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford didn’t participate in Day 1 of training camp. The reasons could be something little with the team easing him into things, as he has been injured a lot during the past few years. It could also have something to do with him and his wife welcoming a new child to their family, that could have kept him away for the time being.

Crawford was announced as one of the players on the training camp roster, which would have us to believe he will be involved in the play-in series against the Oilers.

At the moment, no true reason for Crawford not being there has been announced, leaving fans searching for answers. If Crawford doesn’t return, the team still has other options, with Collin Delia, Kevin Lankinen, and Matt Tomkins all spending time on the ice today.

Besides Crawford, everyone else on the training camp roster showed up to practice. Another thing to note is the roster doesn’t include Zack Smith or Andrew Shaw, two names that fans were curious to see if they’d come back for the playoff run in 2020.

Not having Smith or Shaw in the playoffs is dissapointing but isn’t surprising, as Smith was injured more recently and Shaw’s concussion ruled him out for the season months ago.

We’ll leave you with a beautiful video of Patrick Kane scoring on Delia to end your day with happy thoughts.
