The Chicago Blackhawks are back in the win column, taking Game 4 against Vegas 3-1. Can they do the unthinkable and erase the 3-0 deficit they dug for themselves?

The last team to be down 3-0 and win the series was the 2014 LA Kings against the San Jose Sharks. 10 years ago, in 2010, the Philadelphia Flyers did the same thing against the Boston Bruins. Could the Chicago Blackhawks be the third team in 10 years to accomplish a 3-0 comeback?

The closest Chicago’s ever been to coming back down 3-0 in a series was 2011 against the Vancouver Canucks. The Blackhawks lost the third three games, but somehow turned things around in Games 4-6, to make the series competitive, just to lose in Game 7. Their next big chance was in 2017, where they’d be swept by the Nashville Predators.

In the 2010s, the Blackhawks completed a 3-1 comeback against the Detroit Red Wings in 2013. They also almost did the same thing a year later against the Kings, losing in Game 7 overtime. In 2016, they had the same situation, down 3-1 in the first round against the St. Louis Blues, they’d lose in Game 7 overtime.

During the 2010s, the Blackhawks were competitive in every series, taking many series that they fell down in quickly to Game 7’s. The only issue is, they lost all but one of them when down 3-1 or more.

Game Four Highlights vs Vegas:

The question now is, can the 2020 Chicago Blackhawks do something that no other Chicago team has done? Can they come back down 3-0 in the series and win? The way Corey Crawford has played the last three games, I like their chances. In fact, besides those a few bad moments in Game 1, Crawford has had a good series.

Should Chicago be down 3-1? No, it should be 2-2. They were inches away from winning Game 2 in overtime, but they didn’t. We cannot sit here and say it should be 2-2, because that doesn’t matter. It’s 3-1 Vegas and the Blackhawks have to deal with that.

I still like their chances. This series doesn’t feel like a 3-1 series, it feels like a series where the Blackhawks have had a few unlucky bounces that didn’t go their way in the first three games. If they can gain a few lucky bounces, along with Crawford continuing to play well and the offense helping him out, this series could easily go 7 games.

It’s going to take a lot of work, but each win the Blackhawks get just claws them back into the series. Remember, last year the Golden Knights took a 3-1 lead against the Sharks and lost the series. Wouldn’t it be something if they lost a 3-0 series the following season?

This is very possible. This team might have holes in it but the Blackhawks still have some special players. It really is time for Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat to add to the team’s scoring. Hopefully, those two can help their lines and give Chicago a solid 4 lines in Games 5, 6, and 7.
