Blackhawks: There is no Doubt That Chicago is a Hockey City

The Chicago Blackhawks might not have the best record in the NHL next season. Even still, I believe fans are ready for hockey again in Chicago.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to have a very trying season in 2021. After losing a lot of big pieces on their roster, the team will rely heavily on younger players in the hopes that they can take a more significant step in the NHL over the next few years. I want to see the Blackhawks win, but I want to have hockey on the TV again even more.

There is a lot of uncertainty revolving around next season. We do not know what the 2021 season will look like, even though it is almost a month till the supposed start date. Things will look different assuming a season happens, and that is alright in my book as long as we can all have some hockey to talk about.

The Blackhawks have had a very long and historic run with a lot of the players on this roster. Not many NHL players have spent their entire careers together on one team as Chicago has with Jonathan Toews, Brent Seabrook, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Kane. Along the way, they also have had a lot of success too.

Even though Chicago might not be the best team in the NHL anymore, and if it weren’t for a flukey qualifying round against Edmonton, Chicago would have been outside looking into the playoffs yet again still believe this team is fun to watch for the fans.

Chicago will have their core four players around for another three years, and to add even more excitement for the fans, the team’s future stars are already stepping into their own. Kirby Dach and Adam Boqvist already have their rookie years under their belts, while Ian Mitchell is set to step into the team this season.

Chicago has been dominant in the past. Many Blackhawks fans got used to a Stanley Cup or bust mentality considering the team was winning year in and year out. Things are changed now, and fans need to get excited about more than just winning it all.

Even though the team hasn’t been great since winning it all in 2015, the Blackhawks are still at the top of the league in many areas. Just check out Chicago’s attendance the past few seasons compared to the rest of the league, and you will see Chicago is still the top team around. Chicago is as much of a hockey town as a lot of other NHL cities

Throughout the entire city of Chicago, the major sports are not doing well. The Bears will see changes after the way their season has gone, the Cubs are showing major steps in the wrong direction, and the Bulls are the Bulls.

The only good thing Chicago fans have to watch will be the White Sox, assuming they take another step in the right direction. That being said, Chicago fans are still just as passionate about the Bears season after season, even though they continuously let their fans down and fail to win.

Blackhawks fans need to be as loyal as Bears fans, and I think they already are. While the Blackhawks have done the bulk of their winning the past 15 years and brought in a new vibrant fan base, these fans are on par with a lot of other hockey cities around for their loyalty to the team.

Who knows when Blackhawks fans will be back in the stadium again watching the Blackhawks play, but hopefully, it will be with a packed crowd cheering on this team to victory. Chicago Blackhawks fans are some of the best fans in the NHL, and they continue to show why every year. There are many reasons to be excited about Blackhawks hockey in the future, but I think the biggest reason to be excited is that it is a Chicago team that isn’t the Bears…
