The Chicago Blackhawks have added Nicolas Beaudin and Ryan Carpenter to their COVID-19 protocol list. The team’s depth has been hit greatly the past week due to COVID exposure, which will only add to their problems.
This is what happens when playing sports during a global pandemic, players are going to miss time due to COVID, and the NHL expected that. So as the team moves forward, they will be facing a rough couple of games.
Chicago started the year off missing Jonathan Toews, Kirby Dach, Alex Nylander, and Brent Seabrook but since then things have only gotten worse. Earlier this past week, they lost Alex DeBrincat and Adam Boqvist for what could be the next two weeks.
COVID is hurting teams all around the league, with Detroit also missing five players at the moment. Chicago could end up having to postpone a game or two, as we have seen all around the league.

Teams like Dallas and Carolina have both had games delayed within the Central Division. So many different teams have been impacted thus far, and it is hard to imagine that will stop anytime soon. Hopefully, Chicago will be able to get back to action soon with a healthy squad.
Here are the players Chicago could pull up in their lineup from the taxi squad in the coming weeks: Wyatt Kalynuk, Reese Johnson, Michal Teplý, Mackenzie Entwistle, Brandon Pirri, and Anton Lindholm. The taxi squad players will definitely get more time in the NHL soon.
Seeing that Nicolas Beaudin went from the taxi squad to the NHL to the COVID list after two games, there is no telling what the future will look like for the Blackhawks. We will have to wait and see if any other players are affected tomorrow when the NHL releases their next round of test results and if anyone else is added to the exposure list.
The Blackhawks next game is supposed to be tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The team would be entering the matchup currently on a three-game losing streak.
