Blackhawks News: Patrick Kane named second star of the week
The NHL has named Patrick Kane the second star of the week after his great three games that produced two goals and five assists. Kane has always been a vital piece of the Blackhawks offense, now more than ever.
The Blackhawks week included two games against the Hurricanes and a game against the Dallas Stars. Chicago has another game against the Stars to look forward to tomorrow, and hopefully, Kane will be on his game yet again.
Kane assisted on both of Alex DeBrincat‘s goals against Dallas to help the team earn their first overtime win of the season. A few weeks ago, I was talking about Kane reaching a few milestone marks in the NHL, and now it seems like he will hit them all as the ‘Hawks forward has 17 points in 13 games this season.
The first star of the week was David Pastrnak from the Boston Bruins, who put up five goals and two assists in three games four the Bruins. Both achievements are outstanding, but I would argue Kane is doing a lot more with less around him than Pastrnak.
Chicago Blackhawks’ star Patrick Kane continues to play among the league’s best.
Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in points and is fifth in the league when it comes to points. It is interesting to think just how skilled Kane is when looking around the entire NHL. Kane is tied for fifth-most points in the league, and the players above him all are from teams like Edmonton (McDavid and Draisaitl), Toronto (Marner), and Philadelphia (van Riemsdyk), all three of those teams are playoff teams, in my opinion.
Even though Kane is on a team with little star talent and does not have as good a group around him compared to teams like Edmonton, he continues to find ways to get the puck in the back of the net.
In the past few games, Kane has been on the top line with Mattias Janmark and Philipp Kurashev. This line has greatly surpassed my expectations and helps make the ‘Hawks a more well-rounded lineup. Hopefully, we will continue to see more out of Janmark and Kurashev in the coming weeks alongside Patrick Kane.
