With a record of 8-5-4, the Chicago Blackhawks are keeping up with the rest of the Central Division for now. The ‘Hawks currently sit in the playoffs with 20 points, but if they lose a game like this against Detroit tonight, the playoffs are going to be farther and farther away from reality.
The Blackhawks beat Detroit a few nights ago, but it was far from their best game against the Red Wings. Most of the first period was spent inside the defensive zone, and the shot totals after the first period were not telling the same story as the scoreboard.
Malcolm Subban played great during the last game, even though he gave up a bad goal, without Subban in the net the score would have looked different after the first period. Even though things were not going their way, the Blackhawks were still in the game, and all they needed was a bounce to change the outcome.
Before playing games in Columbus in Carolina tonight’s game against Detroit needs to be one of the Blackhawks’ best. It was Kubalik’s night last game as he had two goals, now I bet Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat get back on the scoresheet tonight as they were scoreless on Monday.
Last game was the return of Lucas Wallmark to the lineup. Wallmark has missed the past few weeks due to COVID 19 protocol. During his first game back Wallmark only had 11 minutes of ice time, but that number will get up the next few games. Hopefully, he will have a good performance tonight against Detroit.
Opponent Detroit Red Wings:
