The Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers have their seventh matchup of the season tonight. Past seasons have seen the Panthers and Hawks meet only once or twice, but this year has been different with the two in the same division.
With all the recent trades these two teams made, we could see a few former Panthers in the lineup tonight. Hinostroza, Stillman, and Connolly all definitely will want to show up ready to go against their former team, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Colliton play all three of them for puck drop.
Records In Last Ten Games:
Chicago 5-5-0
Florida 6-3-1
Season Series: 2-3-1
The Panthers have had the upper hand over the Hawks winning four of the six meetings thus far, but it is important to note that the Panthers have lost the previous two matchups that took place in March.
March was a pretty bad month for the Blackhawks but those two games against Florida were a bright spot for the team. The Panthers have clinched a playoff spot and really do not have too much to play for besides seeding. Most likely the Panthers are going to be the second or third-ranked team in the division which means they don’t have much of a chance to avoid Tampa or Carolina in round one.
While they do not have a lot to play for, the Panthers definitely do not want to fall into a skid right now. They need to be at the top of their game going into the playoffs and you can bet they will be ready for puck drop tonight.
Adam Boqvist is out with a wrist injury for the remainder of the season. That definitely is not going to help against a very skilled Florida team. However, it does give some other Hawks an opportunity to step up. Maybe it will be Riley Stillman, one of the new Blackhawks that came over in trades with the Florida Panthers.
Here are the expected lineups between the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers:
