3. Calvin de Haan

Calvin de Haan being traded depends on how the team does this season. de Haan is in the final year of his deal and is still a pretty good defenseman on a championship team. He has struggled with injuries the past few years, but when he is healthy he is fine.

If the Blackhawks are playing well and de Haan is playing big minutes then I do not think he is someone the team will trade unless it is for the right price, however, if they decide they have enough depth defensively to get by without him then they could try and trade him earlier. Plus that move would clear up some cap space.

It is hard to imagine the team will be able to add anyone near the trade deadline unless they move some salary the other way, and de Haan is a prime candidate to be used at the deadline to clear cap space.

The Blackhawks have options on the blueline. Outside of Murphy, Seth Jones, and McCabe, the team has Stillman, Kalynuk, Caleb Jones, Mitchell, Beaudin, and Regula all knocking on the door. Maybe moving de Haan later in the season if three or four of those guys look NHL ready would be the right move, especially if Bowman does not plan to re-sign him.

While this team seems to be competing for the playoffs this season, I do not think they are ready to trade away that many picks and assets, especially due to how much it cost to get Seth Jones. Time will tell what moves the Hawks make this season.
