The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Washington Capitals tonight in Washington, for the Hawks looking for offense, they could not be playing a better offensive team.

The Washington Capitals continue to dominate the league while the Chicago Blackhawks have fallen off the map.

Even with an aging core, the Capitals remain competitive since winning their Stanley Cup during the 2017-18 season. The Blackhawks on the other hand have fallen apart and began the season on a horrible losing streak under then-head coach Jeremy Colliton.

The Hawks vs Capitals game tonight is a great opportunity for the Hawks to get a win on the road, but it is not going to be an easy win when we look at some of the numbers. The Capitals have one of the best defenses in the entire league, giving up the 11th least amount of goals this season at just 37 at five on five.

Their numbers offensively are even better. At five on five, they have scored the most goals compared to every other team in the league at 60 goals at five on five, the Hawks on the other hand are tied for dead last at 26. If you are wondering they are tied with the New York Islanders for that stat.

Chicago’s offense has not been that great, so much so that they are trying out some new power play lines tonight. Check out the lines from practice yesterday:

It will be interesting to see how Dylan Strome does during this last-ditch effort to try and spark some offense for the team. One would imagine playing Alex DeBrincat on the top power-play is something that is probably better off for the team, but hey I guess we will just wait and see tonight. We are kind of at a point where I think I like that second power-play unit a little better than the top line, and I hope they do get some chances during the game.
