The Chicago Blackhawks will look to bounce back from their weekend woes as they face another Alberta team, the Calgary Flames, on Monday night.
Chicago blew a two-goal lead in their 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Teuvo Teravainen scored his 10th goal of the season and third in two games, while Nick Foligno notched his 11th goal of the season.
Ryan Donato scored his 13th goal of the season--his sedond since ending a 16-game goal drought. Goaltender Arvid Soderblom stopped 30 of 34 shots faced. The Blackhawks fell to 14-27-2 of the season after the defeat.
This marks the final meeting of the season between Chicago and Calgary.
The Flames won both matchups so far (both of them were in Calgary). They had a 3-1 win on Oct. 15 and 6-4 victory on Dec. 21.
Tyler Bertuzzi leads the Hawks with 14 goals this season. Connor Bedard leads the Blackhawks in assists (27) and points (38). Bedard will look to get back on track after his long nine-game point streak ended on Saturday against Edmonton.
Alec Martinez was activated off of IR Saturday while Connor Murphy was put on IR with a groin injury and did not play in Saturday's game. Craig Smith (day-to-day) and Laurent Brossoit (who has yet to play a game this season) are also out with injuries.
The Flames are coming off of a 2-1 win over the LA Kings at home Saturday and begin a four-game road trip in Chicago.
Jonathan Huberdeau leads Calgary in goals (18) and points (31) while MacKenzie Weegar leads the team in assists (17).
Here are the top 3 Keys to the Game...
1. Capitalize on Powerplay Opportunities: The Blackhawks power play ranks 12th in the league at 22.9% and will be up against Calgary's 30th-ranked penalty kill. Scoring on the man advantage could be key.
2. Solid Defensive Play: Calgary has averaged 2.61 goals per game in their last ten outings. Chicago's defense must contain key players like Jonathan Huberdeau, who has seven goals in that span.
3. Home Ice Advantage: Despite a 9-12-0 home record, the Blackhawks tend to perform better at the United Center. A strong start will be critical after their weekend losses.
