The Chicago Blackhawks will wrap up their season series with the Los Angeles Kings later tonight, before making the short trip to Anaheim for their third and final game against the Ducks tomorrow. You know the drill for game day. We’ve got you covered!
Blackhawks Chirps
- Teuvo Teravainen took a puck in the mouth during the closing moments of Thursday’s loss to the Kings. He was absent from practice yesterday after losing a few teeth. Head coach Jeff Blashill said he’s questionable for the weekend but didn’t rule him out. We’ll have a better idea after today’s morning skate, so check back in for an update.

- The Rockford IceHogs fell to the Colorado Eagles 5-3 on Friday night. Laurent Brossoit made his debut for the Blackhawks organization, as he’s down in the AHL on a conditioning stint. This was the veteran netminder’s first game at any level since April 18, 2024, with the Winnipeg Jets. He allowed four goals on 31 shots in his first IceHogs start. Samuel Savoie was promoted to the top line and scored a pair of goals. Nick Lardis recorded his 12th assist of the season to bring his point total to 23 points in 21 games. Ethan Del Mastro and Gavin Hayes also picked up assists. The IceHogs will host the Eagles again tonight for their annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
- Roman Kantserov is officially a KHL All-Star, which is not a surprise. He leads the league with 22 goals and is second in overall scoring with 39 points.

- Sasha Boisvert returned to the lineup for Boston University after missing the last three games. He centered the Terriers’ top line with Cole Eiserman and Ryder Ritchie. He had the primary assist on the game-winning goal against Vermont. Boisvert has a goal and 10 points in 10 games this season.
- On this date in 1967, the Blackhawks played the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first time. Stan Mikita had his first career four-goal game and recorded an assist in a big 7-2 victory.
- Three years later, the Blackhawks extended their team-record home unbeaten streak to 14 games by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2. Bobby Hull scored nine seconds after the opening faceoff before Pit Martin netted his fifth career hat trick.
- In 1992, current Blackhawks goaltending coach Jimmy Waite beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-0. This was the first shutout by a Chicago netminder in Montreal since Tony Esposito on Dec. 1, 1973.
- Blackhawks Birthday Roll Call, Dec. 6: Marcel Pelletier and Hank Bassen.
NHL Chirps
- Apparently, Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart hurt himself during Tuesday’s shootout over the Blackhawks. He is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
- According to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, the New Jersey Devils have Steven Stamkos on their list of potential trade targets. While the Nashville Predators have played better of late, they are likely to going to look to move on from some of their high-priced veterans before the trade deadline.
- Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects reported that Pete DeBoer and the Kings have had “advanced discussions.” He added that DeBoer is happy at the moment, so it would take a “substantial” offer to get him back behind the bench. Honestly, I don’t know why the Kings didn’t fire Jim Hiller after his disastrous playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers last spring. However, LeBrun reached out to general manager Ken Holland, who said there is zero truth to any reports about a coaching change. Which, of course, means there will be a coach change very soon!
- Mikko Rantanen had a goal and two assists to lead the Dallas Stars to a 4-1 win over the San Jose Sharks last night. He joined Jarri Kurri, Teemu Selanne, and Aleksander Barkov as the only Finnish-born players in NHL history with 200 multi-point games.
- NHL Birthday Roll Call, Dec. 6: Matt Niskanen and Nathan Bastian.
