Anton Frondell could be a standout pick for the Blackhawks with the 3rd overall pick

Frondell is a very under-the-radar prospect who should definitely be considered by the Blackhawks.

With the 2025 NHL Draft inching closer and closer, there are going to be tons of names flying around about who General Manager Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks should take at 3rd overall.

Someone who I don't think is being talked about enough is Swedish Center Anton Frondell.

Frondell is a 6'0" center who plays for Djurgårdens IF in the HockeyAllsvenskan league, which is basically the AHL for the top Swedish league. This past season in 29 games he put up 11 goals and 14 assists for a 0.86 points per game, which is the highest of any U18 player who played in the HockeyAllsvenskan league, including better than William Nylander and David Pasternak.

The Blackhawks lack a true center which makes Frondell a very enticing prospect.

Frondell is one of the youngest prospects coming into this year's draft, but his game is extremely mature for his age. He is a 200-foot player who plays well on both ends of the ice and doesn't shy away from physicality either. He has a wicked shot, really solid playmaking ability, and drives plays extremely well, which would be a huge benefit to freeing up more space for someone like Connor Bedard if the Hawks were to draft him.

He may not be as flashy as others, but his reliability and ability to play in every scenario makes his game extremely likely to translate very well to the NHL level. Especially considering he was a 17-year-old playing against men, makes it all the more likely for him to be able to translate his game in stride.

A lot of the Blackhawks' younger prospects and players are on the smaller end and not very physical like Bedard, Nazar, Moore, etc. So getting someone who is bigger, can be physical and has high end skill is much needed for a team wanting to compete in a few years.

While there are plenty of different directions the Blackhawks could go, Anton Frondell has all the tools needed to succeed at the NHL level and should most definitely be considered by Kyle Davidson with the 3rd overall pick.
