The Chicago Blackhawks may have lost their only September game of the 2026-27 season, but they get a clean slate to begin October.

On Thursday, they travel to Salt Lake City to face the Mammoth, giving Patrick Kane another opportunity to chase down milestones held by franchise legends Denis Savard and Stan Mikita.

Today, we look into the record book to see where Kane ranks all-time in October points. With the Blackhawks playing 13 games this month, it will be fun to watch Kane pursue the top spot on this list.

Blackhawks all-time leading scorers in October

Pit Martin - 82 points

Pit Martin benefited from playing alongside Mikita in the late 1960s and into the 1970s, compiling 82 points in 82 October games. The one-time Bill Masterton Trophy winner is one of 11 players to record more than 80 points in the month and produced at exactly a point-per-game pace.

Jeremy Roenick - 87 points

Although it took Jeremy Roenick a few years to make it into the Hockey Hall of Fame, he eventually did. His career started with the Blackhawks, where he scored 87 points in 80 October games and put together several 50-goal and 100-point seasons. As one of the more offensively gifted forwards of the 1990s, he split his 37 goals almost evenly between power-play tallies (17) and even-strength ones (18).

Troy Murray - 88 points

Troy Murray played 12 years with the Blackhawks and won the Frank J. Selke Trophy. Like many others on the list, he reached his totals through a long stint with the club. Although he scored only 37 goals in October, nine were game-winners, tying him for the all-time lead. Meanwhile, with 88 points in 111 games, he did all that damage on only 199 shots, the lowest total of any player in the top 10.

Jonathan Toews - 102 points

Known as Captain Serious, Jonathan Toews never produced at the same rate as his longtime teammate Kane, but he finished his career as one of five players to record 100 points in October. Thanks to his longevity, he skated in 150 games in the month, which ranks third all-time behind Mikita and Kane. With 45 goals, including seven game-winners, Toews is one of six skaters to tally more than 40 in the season’s opening month.

Doug Wilson - 127 points

Doug Wilson is another Hall of Famer who produced in the season’s opening month, compiling the most points of any defenseman with 127. Known as a setup man, he recorded 93 assists in October, one of only four players to record more than 90. Surprisingly, Wilson reached his point total while spending 130 minutes in the penalty box, the ninth most of any player that month.

Bobby Hull - 135 points

The Golden Jet is one of the best players in team history and ranks fifth on the list for most points in October. Despite his overall point total of 135, he set the standard for goals in the month with 69, a mark unchallenged for more than 50 years after his last game. He also led the month with nine game-winning goals, tied with Murray. With just 56 penalty minutes in October, he produced the lowest total of anyone on this top 10 list.

Steve Larmer - 149 points

Steve Larmer is one of the few players in Blackhawks history to win the Calder Trophy. During his 13 seasons with Chicago, he collected the fourth-most October points in team history. Even more impressive, he finished his time in Chicago with the second-most October goals, trailing only Hull in the category. Larmer came one game-winning goal shy of tying Hull and Murray for the most in October.

Patrick Kane - 156 points

Kane is back with the Blackhawks after brief stints with two other Original Six franchises in New York and Detroit. Despite leaving the team in early 2023, he starts the month just 19 points shy of the franchise record of 175, with 156 points in 150 games. Moreover, Kane needs just two more game-winners to tie Hull and Murray and 23 more shots on goal to surpass Hull.

Stan Mikita - 169 points

Mikita is one of the greatest players in Blackhawks history and the franchise leader in many scoring categories. For more than 15 years, he held the record for most October points, eventually surpassed in 1996. In addition to recording the most assists in the month with 115 in 162 games, he's tied with two other players for most shorthanded goals with four. Mikita leads all players in plus/minus, with a plus-49 rating.

Denis Savard - 175 points

As the only player with five 100-point seasons in a Blackhawks sweater, Denis Savard has the most October points in team history with 175. Starting the season with a bang is a good way to pace yourself to 100 points, and he has the best points-per-game total in the month at 1.29. Although Savard doesn’t have the most goals, he is one of only two players to record more than 100 October assists, joining Mikita.
