Beat the heat by staying inside and having a lazy Sunday with your Morning Chirps and a nice cup of coffee.

Blackhawks Chirps

  • Connor Bedard was on TSN OverDrive over the weekend, and Justin Lynch has the details on how the offer-sheet anxiety Blackhawks fans felt was never necessary.
  • Speaking of Bedard, he is in the early projections for Canada’s All-Star Team. The NHL is going with an international format this year, with teams from Canada, the United States, Sweden, Finland, and a World squad.
  • Bowen Byram’s agent, Darren Ferris, was on the PuckPedia Hockey Show and revealed that there was a bigger offer on the table for his client than what he got from the Blackhawks. He said that the trade talks progressed far enough to where he was allowed to talk about an extension with said team, and they offered a four-year deal at $14 million AAV. If I had to bet, I’d say that team was the San Jose Sharks.
  • Patrick Kane sent out two separate messages on Saturday; one thanking the Detroit Red Wings and another saying how excited he is about returning to the Blackhawks.
  • IceMetrix is profiling their top 30 NHL prospects, and Roman Kantserov was on the list at No. 19. There is a lot to be excited about, not that the young winger is in Chicago.
  • Blackhawks Birthday Roll Call, July 26: Alec Martinez.

NHL Chirps

  • The Anaheim Ducks signed Nikita Klepov to his three-year, entry-level contract. He was the 15th overall pick of the most recent NHL Entry Draft. No word on whether Daniel Briere is putting an offer sheet on file for down the road. Klepov was supposed to play at Michigan State this fall, but now that won't happen. That could possibly open up more playing time for Blackhawks prospect Mason West.
  • Daria Tuboltseva of RG Media reports that a source close to Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko says a trade is coming soon. Marchenko would be an excellent fit on the Blackhawks, but it’s unlikely that they are in the mix for his services. The Montreal Canadiens have been tied to the 25-year-old forward, so they have to be the favorite to land him.
  • NHL Birthday Roll Call, July 26: Bobby Rousseau, Rick Martin, Oleg Kvasha, Jordie Benn, Zach Redmond, Bryan Flynn, Tyson Barrie, Sebastian Aho, Marc McLaughlin, and Andre Lee.
