- For some reason, the Carolina Hurricanes and defenseman Alexander Nikishin are in a stalemate, as he is one of the few restricted free agents who hasn’t signed yet. His name has been involved in numerous trade rumors this summer, and apparently the St. Louis Blues have expressed interest. Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic confirmed that the Blues have reached out to the Hurricanes about the young blueliner’s availability. However, it is believed the Hurricanes want a top-six forward back in any trade, and the Blues have already dealt Jordan Kyrou to the Washington Capitals.
- One day after being acquired from the Montreal Canadiens, Sean Farrell signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Anaheim Ducks. According to PuckPedia, he’ll get paid $855,000 in the NHL or $155,000 in the AHL.
- Defenseman Cal Foote has signed with Färjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League. The 27-year-old defenseman is a veteran of 145 NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Nashville Predators, and New Jersey Devils.
- We haven’t heard much about the Detroit Red Wings’ search for their new general manager. According to Jeff Marek, Jim Rutherford is not in consideration for the job. The former general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks made 305 goaltending starts for the Red Wings over 10 seasons.
