With the NHL in hibernation to start the month of August, now is the perfect time to start analyzing what role different players will fill with the Blackhawks when hockey starts back up next month.

One player Chicago Blackhawks fans should definitely get excited about is Oliver Moore. Moore, 20, signed with the Blackhawks late last season but was overshadowed by Sam Rinzel.

The pair of young prospects signed with the Blackhawks in late March, and both played in nine games to close out the season. Rinzel registered five assists, and Moore registered four assists.

Rinzel's overall play shined as the defender quickly looked like a top pairing defenseman and Moore's speed stood out in the forward group.

Going into the 2025-26 NHL Season, Moore seems to be getting overlooked thanks to some of the other big-name young forwards on the roster like Ryan Greene and Nick Lardis. Still, Blackhawks fans should keep an eye on Moore entering training camp.

Keep an eye on Oliver Moore entering Blackhawks training camp.

Oliver Moore seems to be in a similar situation to Frank Nazar last season. Moore is going to have to earn a roster spot—especially after Kyle Davidson's offseason additions of Sam Lafferty and Andre Burakovsky.

Moore could earn a spot in the NHL out of training camp. His speed and skill could be the perfect combination to pair on a line with Frank Nazar or even Connor Bedard, who also has Olympic motivations entering the season.

Moore had his first taste of the NHL, and the young forward spoke highly of the team and the league at the end of season media availability.

"I thought it was great, I thought it was really good for me to experience those nine games and be in those different settings," Moore said. "It definitely was an invaluable experience. Being around these guys and being around the organization, being around the facilities—it's just going to help my comfort going into the offseason."

Fans saw last season Nazar's motivation to make it back to the NHL after starting the year in Rockford, and that could be the same situation on the horizon for Moore. The former 2023 first-round pick has a bright future ahead of him, and fans should be excited to watch his career continue this season.
