The NHL and Fanatics dropped their Hometown Remix collection on Monday (Nov. 2), with each team celebrating an aspect of their home city. Some of these uniforms are designed to celebrate their fans, local culture, or unique history. Every NHL team will be sporting these new uniforms at home games this season.
Blackhawks celebrate the Chicago River
Every year since 1962, the city of Chicago dyes the Chicago River green on St. Patrick's Day. This year is important to the Blackhawks as well, since they won the Stanley Cup in 1961. The connection between these two dates and the annual tradition of the St. Patrick's Day parade and celebration brought a green sweater to the Blackhawks' Hometown Remix uniform.
from the Chicago stars embossed on the sleeve, to the motto stitched inside the hem, this jersey carries our city's story down to the last detail 🪡

"What stood out was a unique connection from 1961, when the Blackhawks captured the Stanley Cup the same year Chicago plumbers discovered the process that would become the city's annual tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green every St. Patrick’s Day. Those are two iconic moments in Chicago history, and bringing them together created a unique opportunity to celebrate both our team and our city."Jerry Ferguson - VP of Brand & Marketing

Fan reactions
Over the past few weeks, there have been leaks from the NHL about the individual colors that would represent each team. When it was revealed that Chicago was wearing a green sweater, it brought many negative reactions from the fan base. Many people are clamoring for a "Chicago Flag" sweater that would have the same color scheme as the Chicago Stars FC.
I am in the minority of fans when I say I think these uniforms are sharp. The sweater alone is a little underwhelming, but when they pair it with the brown gloves and the cream accents, it elevates the entire look. Unlike in the standings, I think the Blackhawks are right in the middle of the pack when it comes to the Hometown Remix jerseys.
Some of the best include: Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks
Some of the worst include: Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils
Hopefully, tonight the Blackhawks can begin to turn their season around as they debut these new uniforms against the Colorado Avalanche. They played their best game of the season in a loss to the Boston Bruins so perhaps they can build off that performance to a win against their division rivals.
