A Weird Road Trip
The Blackhawks will be involved in three home openers before they play their own. This will be the ninth straight year in which they begin the season on the road. The new season will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the Vegas Golden Knights. Playing the reigning Western Conference champions right out of the gate is a tall order.
From there, the Blackhawks will play the Utah Mammoth on Thursday, Oct. 1. That’s back-to-back games against the playoff teams from a year ago. However, the Blackhawks had a lot of success against the Mammoth last season, sweeping the three-game series.
From there, for whatever reason, the Blackhawks will travel across the country to take on the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, Oct. 3. Will Patrick Kane be playing in this game? We shall see!
That’s three straight road games against teams that made the playoffs last year. The Blackhawks will not have Connor Bedard for any of those contests, which really puts pressure on the rest of the roster. This team cannot afford to get off to a slow start and dig themselves into a big hole. The NHL schedule makers did them no favors.
The Blackhawks will play their first game at the United Center on Tuesday, Oct. 6, against the St. Louis Blues, a team they will play twice in the preseason.
The rest of the 2026-27 NHL schedule will be released tomorrow, and we will bring you the full Blackhawks slate as soon as we get it.
