- Landon Slaggert was back on the practice ice on Tuesday as he’s recovering from a lower-body injury. Head coach Jeff Blashill said he was not going to play tonight, but there is a chance he could make his season debut against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
- The Rockford IceHogs announced that defensemen Nolan Allan and Kevin Korchinski have been placed in concussion protocol. There is no timetable for their return.
- Three was the magic number at Blackhawk yesterday. First, I brought you the Blackhawks Prospects of the Week, the three NHL hopefuls who had the most productive week.
- Kyle Bokota listed three Blackhawks who have earned more respect after the way they’ve started the new season.
- Finally, Jeff Maroon remembers three former Blackhawks who are now disliked by the fanbase that once cheered for them.
- On this date in 1972, Stan Mikita became the sixth player in NHL history to score 1,000 career points. The milestone point came in the form of an assist on Cliff Koroll’s goal in a 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
- In 1983, Denis Savard scored his first career hat trick in a 10-8 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The two teams combined for the fastest goals in league history, lighting the lamp five times in 1:24.
- In 2008, the Blackhawks beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-1. Colin Fraser scored his first NHL goal, while Brian Campbell scored his first goal with the Blackhawks.

NHL Chirps
- The Mike Sullivan era has not gotten off to a great start, as the New York Rangers lost 2-0 to the Edmonton Oilers at Madison Square Garden. They are the first team in NHL history to be shut out in their first three home games to begin a season. Perhaps they should have considered hiring Blashill instead.
- Sidney Crosby picked up two assists to give him 1,065 in his career and move ahead of Steve Yzerman for ninth all-time. He is 14 helpers behind eighth-place Adam Oates.
- The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Calgary Flames 4-2, but it was a costly game. Goaltender Adin Hill left the game in the first period with a lower-body injury. The injury comes the day before Carter Hart can sign with any team.
- Nestor Quixtan wrote for Puck Prose that Lane Hudson’s extension could escalate an arms race among young defensemen.
