The Chicago Blackhawks will be back at the Fifth Third Arena today as they get back to business after their 3-2-1 road trip. They will prepare for tomorrow night’s game against the New Jersey Devils, who lost in overtime to the New York Islanders last night.

Blackhawks Chirps

  • Duncan Keith was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last night. Humility has always been one of his strongest personality traits, and that was on full display during his induction speech. He started by thanking his mother for taking him to practice as a boy. He mentioned Trent Yawney, his first coach with the Blackhawks, who was in attendance. Of course, Brent Seabrook was a focal point. He became emotional when talking about coaching his son, Colton. You can watch the entire speech below.

Marian Hossa, a Hall of Famer himself, was in Toronto to support his former teammate, as well as his good friend Zdeno Chara.

  • Yesterday, I looked at the recent Blackhawks trends and how they have flipped the national narrative with their impressive start to the season.
  • Chris Johnston and Pierre LeBrun shared what they’ve been hearing about Team Canada’s Olympic roster. If Doug Armstrong would rather have veterans like Mark Stone, Mark Scheifele, Tom Wilson, and Brad Marchand over exciting and productive players like Connor Bedard, Nick Suzuki, and Macklin Celebrini, that might serve the rest of the tournament well.
  • Speaking of Bedard, he was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for his three goals and 10 points in four games.
  • On this date in 1970, the Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-1 with the Hull brothers, Bobby and Dennis, each scoring twice. The victory started a record-setting 13-game winning streak that lasted until Dec. 20.
  • In 1987, the Blackhawks set a team record with five power-play goals in a 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Wayne Preseley had three of the power-play tallies, with Doug Wilson and Steve Larmer chipping in.
  • In 2007, Jonathan Toews scored his first career game-winning goal to beat the Red Wings 3-2.
  • Blackhawks Birthday Roll Call, Nov. 11: Jack Gelieneau, Harry Lumley, and Brian Felsner.

NHL Chirps

  • The San Jose Sharks activated former Blackhawks defenseman Nick Leddy from injured reserve. He hasn’t played since suffering an upper-body injury against the New York Rangers on Oct. 23.
  • Another former Blackhawk is returning to action. Mattias Janmark was activated from injured reserve. He made his season debut and played 9:59 in the Edmonton Oilers’ 5-4 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Oilers placed Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on injured reserve in a corresponding move. His injury is not expected to keep him out much longer than a week.
  • Nashville Predators forward Matthew Wood became the first NHL rookie to score a hat trick this season. He is only the second Predators rookie to net three goals in the same game, joining Blake Geoffrion, who did it in 2011. Wood is now tied with Ivan Demidov for the most goals by a rookie this season, with six. The hat trick wasn’t enough as the Predators fell to the Rangers 6-3.
  • Joe Yerdon graded the goaltending for all 32 NHL teams for Bleacher Report, and as you can imagine, he had high marks for the Blackhawks.
  • NHL Birthday Roll Call, Nov. 11: Gord Pettinger, Brian Cullen, Michel Bergeron, Steve Konowalchuk, Chris Kelly, and J.G. Pageau.
