The NHL Hometown Remix jersey collection is here, as the league and Fanatics released the designs for all 32 teams on Monday. By the end of the night, several teams, including the Chicago Blackhawks, wore their new threads. On social media, fans across the globe shared their opinions on the new jerseys, while several media outlets chimed in with their own rankings.
At Sportsnet, author David Morassutti gave no love to the Blackhawks’ green sweaters, giving them the worst ranking in the NHL.
Blackhawks find themselves in an all-too-familiar position: the bottom
The NHL tries to launch a new jersey series almost every season to draw more eyeballs to the game. Whether through displays in stores across the continent or 15-second clips on social media, the Hometown Remixes are a blend of bright colors, alternate logos, and personal connections to the city where the team plays. Several teams just dipped into their own history and went with previous color schemes and designs.
Regarding Chicago’s new green jerseys, which are very similar to the colors usually worn by the Dallas Stars, the team went back into its history, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. For more than a century, the Blackhawks have been associated with the iconic red, black, and white color scheme. But for this new Hometown Remix, the organization opted to showcase a different side of their history, which dates back to 1961, the last time the franchise won the Stanley Cup before 2010.
from the Chicago stars embossed on the sleeve, to the motto stitched inside the hem, this jersey carries our city's story down to the last detail 🪡

While so many other franchises tied their designs to their home cities, the Blackhawks opted to incorporate some iconic St. Patrick's Day history into their threads. Unfortunately, this release may or may not alienate the long-time fans who will buy the jerseys and stick out like a sore thumb in a sea of red and black jerseys that often fill the United Center.
Sadly, many NHL fans often cry when the league releases new jerseys because they come so often now; they see it more like a quick cash grab than a celebration of history. That’s one of the main reasons why Morassutti ranked the Blackhawks' new sweater dead last, because these green Hometown Remix jerseys are such a departure from the team’s true identity.
In the end, maybe Chicago is hoping the green colors will get people curious about “which team is that?” or make hardcore fans do a double take, since this color scheme is so closely associated with the Stars.
