The Chicago Blackhawks have the day off after games on back-to-back games. They will be back at the Blackhawks Ice Center tomorrow for a quick practice before heading out for a pair of road games out west.
Blackhawks Chirps
- There were a ton of positives to take out of last night's 3-2 win over the Utah Mammoth. Connor Bedard is playing out of his mind, Frank Nazar is getting hot, Andre Burakovsky ended his goal drought, Andrew Mangiapane is making a difference, and Drew Commesso stepped up again. - In case you missed it last night, head coach Jeff Blashill said Oliver Moore will miss “significant” time. He said the young forward will be reevaluated in a month, so his season is likely done.
- If you’re wondering when we might see Sacha Boisvert, it could be as early as this weekend. They will play Vermont in the opening round of the Hockey East tournament on Wednesday. If they lose, their season is over. If they win, they’ll play again on Saturday. They split their season series against Vermont, winning 2-1 and losing 3-2.
- On this date in 1991, Ed Belfour tied Tony Esposito’s single-season record with his 38th win of the season by beating the New York Rangers 5-2. Steve Larmer recorded his 92nd point, tying the team record for the most points in a season by a right wing.
- In 2018, the Blackhawks lost 7-4 to the Boston Bruins in Joel Quenneville’s 1,608th game, passing Al Albour for the most games coached in NHL history.

NHL Chirps
- The Columbus Blue Jackets are hanging onto their playoff hopes, as they are two points out of a wild card spot after their overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings yesterday. They will now be without veteran defenseman Erik Gudbranson, who an upper-body injury in the defeat. Head coach Rick Bowness said Gudbranson will not travel on the team’s upcoming three-game road trip and will undergo further evaluation.
- Speaking of teams trying to sneak into the postseason, the Ottawa Senators are just one point behind the Blue Jackets after beating the Vancouver Canucks 2-0 last night. James Reimer made history, joining Sean Burke and Cam Talbot as the only goaltenders in NHL history to record a shutout with seven different teams.
- The win helped soften the blow of the bad news the Senators got earlier in the day. Star defenseman Jake Sanderson is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury suffered over the weekend. Ottawa recalled former Blackhawks defenseman Dennis Gilbert to help fill the void.
- The Iowa Heartlanders, the ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced that the team will voluntarily suspend operations for the 2026-27 season. Their official statement says they plan on returning after stepping back for one season.
