Morning Chirps: Blackhawks national TV schedule released, Oilers already dealing with key injuries

The Chicago Blackhawks will get plenty of national exposure in 2026-27.

Blackhawks Chirps

  • Sacha Boisvert will attend his first NHL training camp next month, and Ryan McGregor says he has an opportunity to fill a hole in the Blackhawks lineup.
  • Finally, Blackhawks Number History continued with numbers 41-50.
  • On yesterday's CHGO Blackhawks Podcast, Mario Tirabassi and I welcomed Craig Morgan, who had the latest on the NHL’s possible return to Arizona. We also discussed what realignment could look like and how it might pertain to the Blackhawks.

NHL Chirps

  • Both ESPN and TNT have released their national schedules, which include 17 Blackhawks games between the two networks. ESPN will have coverage of 100 regular-season games across its networks, including an opening-night triple header, the NHL Frozen Frenzy, ABC NHL Saturday, the All-Star Weekend, and the Stadium Series. TNT’s 72-game schedule is highlighted by a Black Friday doubleheader, the Winter Classic, and an expanded Sunday slate. They are also the exclusive home for the Stanley Cup Final this season.
  • The Edmonton Oilers announced that four players will be unavailable at the start of training camp. Former Blackhawks Mattias Janmark and Alec Regula are still recovering from offseason surgery. Forward Matt Savoie and Frederik Andersen were both injured during their offseason training.
  • Speaking of former Blackhawks, Alexander Nylander has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Calgary Flames. He spent the last two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. Outside of five NHL games in 2024-25, he played the entire time for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, scoring 47 goals and 97 points in 129 games.
  • Under the new CBA, every NHL team must carry an emergency backup goaltender this season. These goalies can’t have any NHL experience or more than 80 professional games played. Chris Johnston added that all EBUGs are required to wear No. 00. That means the Blackhawks need to find a Griswold to be their EBUG!
