Blackhawks Number History, 61-70

We’re continuing our journey through Chicago Blackhawks numbers history. With 100 years of hockey under its belt, this franchise has so many names to mention. This series will help shed light on the lesser-known and forgotten Blackhawks. We’re featuring the best player to wear each number, as well as giving you some fun facts along the way.

No. 61 – Riley Stillman

Stillman is the only player to ever wear No. 61 for the Blackhawks. He was acquired from the Florida Panthers in 2021, along with Henrik Borgstrom and Brett Connolly for Lucas Carlsson and Lucas Wallmark. He had three goals and 13 points in 65 games for the Blackhawks. Kyle Davidson turned Stillman into a second-round pick and Jason Dickinson in 2022. The draft pick was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes so the Blackhawks could get back into the first round to select Marek Vanacker.

No. 62 – Brett Seney

Fun Fact: Luke Johnson was a teammate of Roman Kantserov in the KHL for the last three seasons.

Brett Seney has only played 11 games for the Blackhawks, scoring one goal, but he has been an invaluable member of the organization. He’s spent the last four seasons with the Rockford IceHogs, with the last two as team captain. The mentorship and leadership he’s shown to the young players on a rebuilding team is worth more than any NHL production.

No. 63 – Carl Dahlstrom

Carl Dahlstrom is the only No. 63 in team history. He was a second-round selection in 2013, with the pick acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Dave Bolland trade, and made his NHL debut in 2018. He recorded nine assists in his 49 games for the Blackhawks, while posting a plus-7 rating. He was claimed off waivers by the Winnipeg Jets just prior to the 2019-20 season.

Fun Fact: Tyler Motte was a college teammate of Jets star Kyle Connor, and they both own NCAA First Star of the Week honors in 2016.

David Kampf was a free-agent signing out of Europe in 2017. He played four seasons with the Blackhawks, scoring 17 goals and 58 points in 235 games. He signed with the Maple Leafs in 2021 and had a solid run in Toronto as one of their shutdown defensive forwards. He has since played with the Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals, while playing for his native Czechia at the most recent Winter Olympics.

No. 65 – Andrew Shaw

Nobody would ever confuse Andrew Shaw with the most talented or dynamic players on the ice, but you could never doubt his determination and grit. The fifth-round draft pick made a huge first impression in 2011 with a goal and a fight in his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers. He played much larger than his 5’11, 180-pound frame. He did whatever it took to help the Blackhawks win. From shin-pad goals to disallowed headbutt goals to having fresh stitches when being passed the Stanley Cup, Shaw provided Blackhawks fans with a ton of memorable moments.

No. 67 – Michael Frolik

Fun Fact: Tanner Kero was named the 2014–15 WCHA Player of the Year after his senior season at Michigan Tech.

Michael Frolik was acquired in 2011 from the Panthers for Jack Skille. Despite once having the nickname of “Baby Jagr,” he learned how to become a defense-first forward on a deep Blackhawks team. He scored two memorable penalty shot goals in the playoffs, the first in 2011 against the Vancouver Canucks, then another in 2013 against the Detroit Red Wings. The 2013 Stanley Cup champion scored 11 goals and 34 points in 136 games. A few days after the 2013 championship parade, Frolik was traded to the Winnipeg Jets for a pair of draft picks that turned into John Hayden and Luke Johnson.

No. 68 – Slater Koekkoek

Fun Fact: Stephen Tepper was hit directly in the face with a shot in his one and only NHL game.

Defenseman Slater Koekkoek came to the Blackhawks from the Tampa Lightning for Jan Rutta in 2019. He had two goals and 15 points in 64 games before signing with the Edmonton Oilers in 2020. He had a goal and three points in nine playoff games in the Edmonton bubble during the pandemic postseason of 2020.

No. 70 – Cole Guttman

Fun Fact: Cole Guttman captained the Denver Pioneers to the 2022 NCAA National Championship.

Guttman was a sixth-round draft pick of the Lightning in 2017, but elected for free agency after his college career at the University of Denver ended. He signed with the Blackhawks in 2022 and made his professional debut with the IceHogs that fall. He made his NHL debut on Feb. 15, 2023, against the Maple Leafs. He played 41 games over two seasons, scoring eight goals and 14 points. He left the organization in 2025 and is currently with the Los Angeles Kings.
