Labor Day weekend has come and gone and that means it’s that much closer to the start of the season for the Chicago Blackhawks. The prospect showcase starts this week, and training camp will begin on September 17. While we wait, let’s check in on the latest content from Blackhawk Up.

Blackhawks Prospect Showcase begins this week

Hockey will officially be in Chicago this week, as the Blackhawk’s host the annual Prospect Showcase at the newly renovated Blackhawks Ice Center! The Blackhawk’s prospects will host the St. Louis Blue’s prospects in games on Monday, Sept. 14 (6 p.m.) and Tuesday, Sept. 15 (4 p.m.).

Tickets for both games are available for $10 and can be purchased via Ticketmaster. It will be general admission seating and doors will open an hour before puck drop. Here's a look at the showcase attendees.

The Blackhawks will also hold practices on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. All practice sessions will be free and open to the public. (Note: all times are subject to change).

Blackhawks countdown honors the legendary Stan Mikita

Today’s countdown is pretty special, as it honors a legend whose number has officially been retired by the Blackhawks. It’s Stan Mikita days until Blackhawks opening night!

Mikita played with the Blackhawks his entire NHL career (22 years) and holds the franchise record in career points (1,467), assists (926), games played (1,396) and plus/minus (+329). A legend indeed!
