Blackhawks Chirps
- Saturday’s snowstorm did not stop the Blackhawks from getting back on the practice ice. However, Teuvo Teravainen was absent, and head coach Jeff Blashill said he is questionable for tonight’s game.
- During Saturday night’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman provided an update on Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit. He said the veteran netminder will be heading to the Rockford IceHogs for a conditioning stint in the coming days. The Blackhawks have permitted him to seek a trade and will look to move him as soon as he’s ready to go.
- Roman Kantserov became the first player in the KHL to score 20 goals this season. Shortly after the goal below, he became the first player to 21 goals! The 21-year-old forward has 35 points in 32 games.

- Valcav Nestrasil continued his awesome freshman season on Saturday with two goals and an assist in UMass’ 5-4 loss to Army. He has nine goals and 19 points in 16 games.

- On this date in 1954, the Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens played in Omaha, NE, where they skated to a 3-3 draw. During the 1954-55 season, the Blackhawks were the home team for two games in Omaha, St. Louis, MO, and St. Paul, MN.
- In 1996, Tony Amonte scored his third career hat trick to lead the Blackhawks to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Ed Belfour became the third goaltender in franchise history to win 200 games.
- In 2022, Patrick Kane recorded an assist in the Blackhawks' 5-4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. The helper was the 764th of his career, passing Chris Chelios for the fourth-most among American-born players.

NHL Chirps
- The Boston Bruins had a welcome sight on the practice ice Saturday morning. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy skated for the first time since getting hit in the face with a puck on Nov. 15. There is still no timetable for his return to game action, but getting him on skates is an encouraging sign.
- The Ottawa Senators recalled former Blackhawks defenseman Dennis Gilbert after they placed Thomas Chabot on injured reserve.
- Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. He became the fastest player in team history to record 20 assists, needing only 25 games. David Perron had the former record, getting 20 assists in 27 games. Macklin Celebrini had an assist for the Sharks to become the eighth-youngest player in NHL history to score 100 points.

- The Utah Mammoth got a double dose of bad on Saturday. First, they lost 1-0 to the St. Louis Blues. To make matters worse, star forward Logan Cooley left the game after a knee-to-knee hit from Alexey Toropchenko, who received a five-minute major and game misconduct on the play.
