Today is an exciting day for Blackhawk Up and me! The bar is being raised, and we are going to take the site to new heights as a team. Today is my first day as the site expert in these parts, and I’m excited to be here….again. The 2025-26 season will be vital for the success of the Chicago Blackhawks’ rebuild, and I can’t wait to cover it with a great team of writers.

A Long Road Back to Fansided

In case you’re not familiar with my background, I started blogging about the Blackhawks in 2010. It was like the Wild West back then. Podcasting and YouTube weren’t a thing yet, so if you wanted to get your opinion out there, you had to write it down. Numerous independent websites were producing incredible content. There was something for everyone, and it created an awesome community. I met some great friends and colleagues in those early days of the Blackhawks blogosphere.

This is actually my second go-round with Blackhawk Up. I ran this site from early 2011 until 2013. A lot has changed since then. Both Fansided and I were in the infancy of our careers, and we have since grown and learned a great deal. Since then, I’ve worked for many outlets, including SB Nation, The Hockey Writers, CHGO Sports, and Chicago Hockey Now. I’ve been published in The Hockey News back when they still did monthly print magazines.

I had my first real taste when I was credentialed for the first time during the 2013 Stanley Cup Final. That was when I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. So, I applied myself, improved my craft, put in the time, and made many sacrifices. The upcoming season is my fourth as a fully credentialed writer with the Blackhawks. Having access to the team while being at every home practice and game will give Blackhawk Up a boost in the type of coverage we can provide.

A Blackhawks Season to Look Forward To

Having a credentialed writer leading the charge immediately raises the standards. Those of you who have followed my career know the kind of coverage I’ll bring to Blackhawk Up – fair and objective. You won’t just get what happened on a given night, but the why and the how, too. This site is now my livelihood, and I’m attaching my reputation to it.

So, what can you expect to see on the pages of Blackhawk Up? First, my popular Morning Chirps will be a staple here. Every morning, you’ll get caught up on all the Blackhawks news, the biggest National Hockey League stories, while throwing in some fun stats, highlights, and history notes. It will become your go-to stop every morning so you can be the most informed hockey fan at your office or classroom.

As mentioned above, I’ll be at every home practice, morning skate, and game this season. You’ll get immediate news and reaction to everything Blackhawks this season, as well as exclusive chats straight from the locker room. I have some great content ideas that go beyond game days, including writer roundtables, point-counterpoint pieces, and answering questions from you, our loyal readers.

Blackhawk Up is now my livelihood, and I’m attaching my reputation to it. Covering the Blackhawks isn’t a hobby or a side hustle for me; it’s all I want to do. I’ll be at the helm, keeping all our readers informed and entertained along the way. I’m looking forward to getting this team of excellent writers, including Jim Lynch and Todd Welter, on the same page and firing on all cylinders. This is going to be an exciting season, and I’m thrilled to have you here to experience it with us.
