Now that all these first rounders are debuting, the Chicago Blackhawks have officially announced they are going to start winning.
"After enduring all this losing for what seems like forever, we have finally decided to embrace this concept called winning," Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson likely would have said. "Now that we have what seems like 50 first-round picks signed, this feels like the right time to do something new."
"We hear our fans enjoy winning, so let's give them what they want," owner Danny Wirtz possibly explained. "We might even mess around next season and make the playoffs."
Winning has been hard to come by lately since the team is 1-9 over the past ten games.
The franchise has spent more time vying for the top spot in the Tankathon standings than the Central Division.
The timing of this announcement is interesting since there is just eight games left in a lost season.
"We wanted to get a head start, so that is why we are making this decision now," Davidson could have said. "There is no time like the present, even though I have been obsessed with the future for my entire tenure.
Davidson tried to raise the expectations last offseason, but his additions have not panned out.
"Everyone deserves a mulligan. I figured with even more cap space, I'll get it right this time," Davidson may have commented. "I really learned it might not be a good idea to sign cooked defensemen and mid-tier free agents. This offseason, I am really going for it by making a competitive offer to keep Ryan Donato."
Rumor has it the Hawks want to bring back Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to guide these young Blackhawks.
"They would be great to take the spotlight off of our young stars like Connor Bedard," interim head coach Anders Sorensen hypothetically stated. "I mean, you get worried about what Mark Messier has said about Connor, and I think he can benefit from Toews going full out hipster during his hiatus to help Connor relax. Kaner can finally be the guy who tells me to stop shaking up the lines every time Bedard does not score. Well, that is if I am the head coach next year."
Although there is another report out there that John Tortorella is the preferred choice to be the next head coach.
The thinking is the young players development could be accelerated from a good bag skating every other day.
Hey, it is nice to know the Hawks are embracing this novel concept of winning.
Wait, it is April Fool's Day, so that means there is no official commitment to winning. Guess we'll have to wait until the offseason for a sign on if the franchise is actually committed to being competitive for once.
