Turns out last season was a career season for Jason Dickinson and not the sign of better things to come.
The Chicago Blackhawks center's season officially ends with him scoring seven goals after posting a career-high 22 goals during the 2023-24 season.
After breaking out for 22 goals last season, Dickinson finishes this season with just 7, with his last one coming on Dec. 23. Frustrating season for him, with the second half interrupted by two significant injuries.

For those who were happy the Hawks did not trade Ryan Donato, who is having a career season much like Dickinson had last season, let this be a reminder to you that sometimes it is better to cash in a player having a great season rather than seeing if history can be repeated.
Dickinson had that career season during his walk year, much like Donato is doing. Dickinson turned that into season into a two-year contract extension.
Despite the poor offensive production, Dickinson will be missed on the defensive end.
Dickinson's offensive production is way down this season, but he was still doing a great job supporting the defensive unit as a two-way center should.
Well, in Dickinson's case, this season he was a defensive forward.
Although, this means another younger player will get a chance to step up over the final 11 games of the season.

While Dickinson failed to score a goal in 2025, the Hawks did want him back this season more for his intangibles than providing goals.
However, it would have been nice had he scored a goal at least once after the calendar turned to 2025.
Dickinson suffered the wrist injury on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues. He was centering the second line in that game.
Veteran Nick Foligno has been moved up to centering the second line as a result of Dickinson's injury.
Dickinson being out does mean Lukas Reichel, Joe Veleno, and Philipp Kurashev should get more ice time and not have to worry about being a healthy scratch.
It is unknown if young forward Colton Dach will also benefit from more ice time with Dickinson out. Dach is nursing an elbow injury. Sorensen said Colton will miss some time, but it is unknown if it will drag through the end of mid-April, when this season will thankfully end.
