The Chicago Blackhawks will look to rebound from Friday's 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings as they face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers Saturday.
Teuvo Teravainen scored twice in the loss, while Ryan Donato notched his 12th goal of the season. Petr Mrazek made 23 saves, and Connor Bedard extended his point streak to nine games with an assist on Donato's goal.
Following the loss, the Blackhawks fell to 14-26-2 of the season and will look to deliver a stronger performance tonight.
The bigger story will be Connor Bedard taking on fellow NHL superstar Connor McDavid.
Saturday's game marks the third all-time meeting between Connor Bedard and Connor McDavid. The Oilers won their first matchup, 4-1, on Dec. 12, 2023. Their head-to-head battles have become intriguing to watch.
This is the second of three matchups this season between the Blackhawks and Oilers. Chicago won the first meet in Edmonton back on Oct. 12, 5-2, and the teams will face off again on Feb. 5, 2025.
Edmonton concludes its four-game road trip in Chicago tonight. The Oilers are 2-1-0 so far on the trip and are coming off of a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. They're now 25-13-3 of the season.
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid continue to dominate offensively for Edmonton. Draisaitl leads the NHL in goals (31) and ranks second in points (61), while McDavid leads the Oilers with 31 assists.
Tyler Bertuzzi continues to lead the Blackhawks in goals (14), while Bedard leads the team in assists (27) and points (38). The second-year sensation has been a huge success for the Blackhawks despite the inconsistency and the struggles the team is having this season. It is good to see him overcome his early season struggles as he enters tonight's game on a nine-game point streak.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. EST.
