The Chicago Blackhawks continue to come away as the winner of the Kirby Dach trade

Sorry Canadiens fans but Kirby Dach's injury history is a major reason the Hawks win the trade.

Frank Nazar has been playing well since getting recalled from Rockford. He looks like the core piece of a better future the Hawks envisioned when they dealt Kirby Dach to the Montreal Canadiens to get the draft pick to take Nazar.

His potential to be a star in the NHL is not the only reason the Chicago Blackhawks are walking away as the winner of that 2022 draft day trade that got the Hawks the 13th overall pick to select Nazar.

Kirby Dach's injury history is the other reason the Hawks have made out like bandits in that deal.

At the time of the trade, the Hawks were getting roasted for trading another former first-round pick. Now, it looks like a great move because Dach just cannot stay on the ice.

His body is just not allowing it and some tough luck too.

Dach played in 58 games in the 2022-23 season. He skated in just two games last season after tearing his ACL and MCL, ironically against the Blackhawks.

Now he is going to miss the rest of this season after needing a surgery on his right knee.

The Canadiens have gotten just 117 games from Dach. He has scored 24 goals and 38 assists in that span. The Hawks have already gotten four goals and 10 assists from Nazar this season.

Nazar has already provided a glimpse into better days for the downtrodden franchise. Dach on the other hand has ranged from being a nightmare deal for the Canadiens since Nazar is thriving to at least frustrating because he is not available again.

Dach also had injury issues with the Blackhawks during his three seasons in Chicago as he missed time with a wrist injury.

Still, he represented how the Blackhawks declined into needing an extensive rebuild based on previous general manager Stan Bowman recklessly rushing up prospects before they were physically ready for the NHL game.

Dach debuted at 19, and while he showed some flashes of potential, it might have been better to give him some time in Rockford to get physically ready for the rigors of the game.

Right now, his body is betraying him, and he is only 24. This should have been a deal where both franchises benefited. Instead, it looks like the Hawks have fleeced the Canadiens with every strong performance Nazar has.
