The Chicago Blackhawks announced their return of one of their most decorative and classic uniforms on Friday: the black alternate jerseys. They also set a personal best in jersey sales.

According to the Blackhawks PR team, the online store broke an all-time daily sales record in just one hour this morning.

Back in Black

The Blackhawks announced the return of their legendary black alternate jersey as part of their centennial season. The jersey made its debut in 1996 and, in the late '90s and early 2000s, became an iconic all-star jersey, famously worn by stars such as Tony Amonte, Chris Chelios, Eric Daze, and Denis Savard. After the 2008-09 season, the alternate jersey was not worn, but it has always been a fan favorite. Blackhawks fans have waited 16 years for this jersey to come back, and now they have finally gotten their wish.

The team will debut their returning uniform on Nov. 28, a Black Friday matchup against the Nashville Predators at the United Center. They'll play in them again for a "Blackout Night" on Nov. 30 against the Anaheim Ducks. The Blackhawks are encouraging fans to wear black for Blackout Night on Nov. 30.

Overall, the Blackhawks will plan to wear the jersey seven times this season, including Jan. 9 against Washington, Jan. 23 against Tampa Bay, Jan. 30 against Columbus, March 14 at Vegas, and March 20 against Colorado.

The jersey is available online and at team stores for fans to get. While shipping timelines may keep late online orders from arriving before the November games, the organization expects strong in-person attendance at the stores throughout the holiday weekend and heading into December.
