Connor Bedard is already cementing his status among Blackhawks greats

Connor Bedard is enjoying his first of what should be many career seasons. He's leading the Chicago Blackhawks in points by a landslide with 42 in 30 games, and he has 19 goals. Bedard also has 12 games this season where he has scored multiple points.

Bruce Miles of NHL.com reminded fans that Bedard now has 39 multipoint games in his career. Miles wrote, "With his 39th career multipoint game, Bedard moved into a tie with Patrick Kane for the fourth-most by a Chicago player age 20 or younger, behind Denis Savard (44), Jeremy Roenick (41) and Eddie Olczyk (41)."

Bedard, who won't turn 21 until July, has a great chance to shatter the record Denis Savard set. But even if he doesn't get there, to surpass Patrick Kane foreshadows wheat kind of career Bedard will enjoy in Chicago should they stay on this upward trajectory.

The resumes of each player Miles listed should tell you all you need to know. Let's start with Kane, who won three Cups with the Blackhawks. He put up 1,225 points and 446 goals across 1,161 games during his time with in Chicago.

Eddie Olczyk ended his career with the Hawks with 77 goals and 209 points in 322 games. An NHL journeyman, Olczyk played 16 years for six different teams, spending five of those seasons with the Hawks. 

Jeremy Roenick is a Hockey Hall of Famer who spent eight seasons with the Blackhawks. He put up 596 points and 267 goals in 524 games, and had a stellar 18.4 shooting percentage.

Denis Savard is another Hockey Hall of Famer, and he played 13 seasons with the Blackhawks. Across 881 games, Savard scored 377 goals and had 1,096 points. He also passed the century mark in points five different times during his Blackhawks career.

With Savard and Roenick already in the Hall and Kane destined to get there at some point, it shows what kind of potential Connor Bedard has. This isn't saying he will end up in the Hall, as it's still way too early. But to be on the verge of passing several Hall of Famers indicates a successful NHL career.

Of course, Bedard will be looking to do something neither Savard, Roenick, nor Olcyzk accomplished in Chicago, and that's winning the Stanley Cup and bringing it back to the Windy City for the first time since Patrick Kane was in town.

Still, even with no Cups on his resume yet or even any playoff appearances, Bedard is already cementing his legacy with the Blackhawks thanks to his dynamic production. He is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest players to wear a Blackhawks sweater.
