Connor Bedard scored his first goal of the season in the Blackhawks' 4-3 OT loss to the Bruins on Thursday. He also picked up an assist later in the game.

With Chicago trailing 1-0 less than eight minutes into the first period, Bedard had delivered arguably one of his best goals of his young NHL career up to this point.

After Nikita Zadorov's hit on Blackhawks forward Colton Dach, Andre Burakovsky collected the puck near the right face-off circle and delivered a tape-to-tape cross-ice pass to Bedard. He then ripped a one-timer from the left circle that beat Joonas Korpisalo high glove side, tying the game at 1-1. With the assist, Burakovsky recorded his first point as a Blackhawk.

It was an absolute laser of a shot from Bedard. It left fans at TD Garden and people watching at home stunned. FUN FACT: Bedard now has two goals in the three games he has played at TD Garden. One of his most notable goals at TD Garden was his first NHL goal.

Narrative Takeaway

Bedard's goal was the highlight of the night (despite the 4-3 OT loss). This was a crazy game from start to finish. From the goals to the big saves, scrums, and an OT finish.

Here's what else stood out in this game against Boston:

BIG LOU: Louis Crevier, a late addition to the roster, lit the lamp early in the second with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle, deflecting off Tanner Jeannot's skate and past Kopisalo on the glove side to make it 2-1

Burakovsky's 1st as a Blackhawk: At 2:22 of the third period, Burakovsky ripped a snap shot from the high slot to tie the game up at three. This was his first goal with the Blackhawks since being traded to them for forward Joe Veleno.

Great Side of Goaltending: Both Korpisalo and Arvid Soderblom played tremendously in goal throughout the game. Korpisalo made 21 saves in his season debut, while Soderblom made 29 saves in the game. Both goalies made key A saves in OT.

Physicality, Intensity, and Late-Game Chaos: The third period and OT was filled with chaos and intensity. It had penalties, cheap shots, and scrums or fights. Zadorov left his mark with the Blackhawks tonight, finishing 25:11 of ice time and laid 7 hits.

OT Heartbreak: After a back-and-forth overtime with both teams looking for chances, Fraser Minten ended the game 2:12 into overtime by going far side and right face-off circle on a 2-on-1 rush.

Overall, the Blackhawks played another great game this season. In their first two games of the season, the Blackhawks stayed competitive and tried to keep themselves in the game.

The Blackhawks will look to get their first win of the 2025-26 season against the Montreal Canadiens Saturday. Puck drop is at 6 p.m. CST on CHSN (in-market), ESPN+ or NHL Network (out-of-market). Fans can listen in on WGN Radio 720.
