Connor Bedard notched a four-point night in the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-0 shutout win over the Calgary Flames on Friday. The 20-year-old forward had a goal and three assists in the victory as Chicago improves to 7-5-3 on the season.

Goaltender Spencer Knight stopped all 33 shots faced for his first shutout of the season and sixth of his NHL career. It was also his first shutout with the Blackhawks.

The Bedard Game

Bedard continued his strong start to the season with one of his best performances in this game. With four points against Calgary, he extended his point streak to seven games (15 points — six goals, nine assists — during the span), the second-longest of his NHL career. He had a nine-game point streak last season (Dec. 21, 2024 - Jan. 10, 2025).

FUN FACT: Bedard also reached 150 career NHL points, becoming the youngest player in Blackhawks history to reach that mark at 20 years and 113 days old, passing Eddie Olczyk, who did it at 20 years, 127 days in 1986.

Bedard also tied Denis Savard for the second-most four-point games in team history by a player age 20 or younger, trailing only Bobby Hull, who had five throughout his career with the Blackhawks.

"I'm playing with great players that are making the game easy on me," Bedard said after the game. "Sometimes the points come, sometimes they don't. For me, it's just about the process and getting chances, making plays, and that's when the points come. There's going to be games where I don't get any, and there are going to be stretches where I don't get any, but I just keep trying to make plays and be productive in that way, and hopefully they come."

Breaking Down Bedard's Four-Point Night

1st Point of the Game: With 7:28 left to play in the first period, Bedard notched an assist on Tyler Bertuzzi's power play goal to make it 1-0 Blackhawks. Bertuzzi deflected the pass off his skate and into the net.

2nd Point of the Game: After a scoreless second period, Bedard led a 2-on-1 rush with Bertuzzi and made a cross-ice pass to Bertuzzi for his second goal of the game and Bedard's second point. That made it 2-0 Blackhawks.

3rd Point of the Game: Bedard picked up his third assist of the night after finding Andre Burakovsky in the slot. Burakovsky fired a wrist shot home to make it 3-0 Chicago.

4th Point of the Game: Bedard capped off his four-point night, forcing a turnover from Morgan Frost near the blue line, creating a highlight-reel goal for the 4-0 final.

"I tried to read what he was going to do, and I was able to get my stick on the puck and I was able to do that," Bedard said. "Then it was just kind of one-on-one with the goalie and just tried to make him bite one way, and fortunately it worked out for me."

Spencer Knight's Shutout Performance

While Bedard was the star of the game, Spencer Knight also had a standout performance. He stopped 33 shots in net and made key saves to keep Chicago in the lead.

It was the Blackhawks' first shutout since December 2023, and Knight now ranks among the league's top goalies with a .926 save percentage and 10.5 goals saved above average.

Naz-Out

While the Blackhawks picked up the 4-0 shutout win, Frank Nazar left late in the first period after taking a cross-check and falling awkwardly near the boards. According to head coach Jeff Blashill, Nazar is currently day-to-day and wasn't ruled out for Sunday's afternoon game against the Detroit Red Wings.
