The Chicago Blackhawks finally flipped the script in overtime.

After losing their first two games past regulation this season (a 4-3 OT loss to the Bruins and a 3-2 shootout loss to Canucks), they finally pulled through. They held on for a 2-1 OT win over the Ducks, thanks to Ryan Donato's game-winning goal at 2:58 of overtime.

Donato buried the game-winner off of a 3-on-1 rush off, set up by Connor Bedard, who created the chance behind the Ducks' net and found Donato on the right post after being denied on his first shot. He made no mistake on the second chance, as he scored on an empty net on the right post to give the Blackhawks their first overtime win of the season.

With the win, the Blackhawks improved to 3-2-2 of the season and sit above .500.

Narrative Takeaway: The Blackhawks were Resilience

The Blackhawks were 36 seconds away from a regulation win before a delay-of-game penalty on defenseman Wyatt Kaiser gave Anaheim a late power play. Mason McTavish tied the game up to force overtime.

But instead of choking in usual Blackhawks fashion, they had strong goaltending from Spencer Knight β€” who made 38 saves in the win β€” and stuck to their structure in overtime.

Frank Nazar had the first goal of the game with 10:17 to play in the third period, cashing in on his own rebound after a one-time blast from Wyatt Kaiser that hit the post. It was Nazar's third goal of the season.

What's Next: The Blackhawks will look to keep their point streak going when they head to Tampa Bay to take on the Lightning on Thursday. Puck drop is at 5:45 CDT. The game will air on Hulu and ESPN+. Fans can listen on WGN Radio 720.
